Everybody’s talking Words and Music by Bruce Mahin Everybody’s talking, Everybody’s talking Everybody’s talking, Everybody’s talking No one listens anymore Pay attention it’s a bore There’s something new that’s coming ‘round. Some greater truth that can be found Too vapid to ignore Every body’s talking, Every body’s talking Every body’s talking, Every body’s talking Talking can be so much fun. Don’t stop me now I’ve just begun To spin a tale that’s over blown. It’s short on facts and quickly sown And guaranteed to stun. Every body’s talking, Every body’s talking Every body’s talking, Every body’s talking Words are sacred and profound, their humble meanings twisted round By those who wish to sway the crowd with crumbs of hope thrown on the ground to gain some sympathy Everybody’s talking, Everybody’s talking Everybody’s talking, Everybody’s talking So what is truth if it’s not real? So many words we can’t repeal A wall of noise we can’t ignore Just politicians on the floor. So many facts that cannot be revealed Every body’s talking, Every body’s talking Every body’s talking, Every body’s talking A marble tablet writ in stone, ‘tis nothing more than stories sown Sweet justice casts her glance aside then throws her scales weighed down with liesfalls crashing on the floor Every body’s talking, Everybody’s talking Every body’s talking, Everybody’s talking Everybody’s talking the words are very clear A hundred words a minute brother lend me an ear Everybody’s talking non-stop from nine to five One thing we keep forgetting there’s no one left to hear Everybody’s talking, Everybody’s talking

“Social Isolation” Words and Music © 2020 by Bruce Mahin CHORUS Spending too much time in my head, Way too much time staying in bed Gotta get up, gotta get out. Gotta get up, gotta get out. Gotta get up, gotta get out of this Social isolation, social isolation Endless isolation, social trepidation VERSE 1 I live out here - on Calhoun Street - next to the five & dime It’s not much more - than a dead-end street right at the end of the line, All I got is a cardboard box, gives me shelter from the storm Now the streets are empty. They’re stuck inside their homes The streets are strangely quiet, like I’ve never seen before Nobody’s walkin’ passed the threshold of my door. Spending too much time in my head, Way too much time staying in bed Gotta get up, gotta get out. Gotta get up, gotta get out. Gotta get up, gotta get out of this Social isolation, social isolation Endless isolation, social trepidation VERSE 2 The birds and the bees play in the trees, it’s a real wild animal jubilee How could they know it’s the smallest of small put Samson in his place Now they’re all stuck in cages like monkeys in a zoo Staring at the walls, like they’re havin’ fun, an endless game of Clue Every part of this big wide world, locked up tighter than a drum Keeping watch on that front door, hoping for some fun. Spending too much time in my head, Way too much time staying in bed Gotta get up, gotta get out. Gotta get up, gotta get out. Gotta get up, gotta get out of this Social isolation, social isolation Endless isolation, social trepidation VERSE 3 The world is now my oyster. I own all that I see But walls are closing in on me, push me to the brink of insanity I need someone I can be with, just for now, not for eternity Someone who is not afraid to touch people that they see I’ve got no one to talk to, just the sidewalk and the air Will you come and talk to me? Will you dare? Spending too much time in my head, Way too much time staying in bed Gotta get up, gotta get out. Gotta get up, gotta get out. Gotta get up, gotta get out of this Social isolation, social isolation Endless isolation, social trepidation

Temptation on a Twisted Track Words and Music © 2021 by Bruce Mahin Some folks say I’m like a twisted track Runnin’ this way and that Can’t find time to settle down See it as some kind of trap Just when things start going right I get messed up in a string of pearls Caught in the eyes of a beautiful girl It’s temptation on a twisted track I took a wrong turn into Abilene Closest bit of heaven that I’ve ever seen Heart pure as gold, eyes bluer than blue It was a love surely meant to be true But just when things start going right I get messed up in a string of pearls Caught in the eyes of a beautiful girl It’s temptation on a twisted track I got swayed by a couple of jays Down at the Melodyne Where the music’s great, and the nights are late It’s always a really fine time. As the night wore on, and the crowd got thin I helped myself to a little bit of gin The room began to shake, walls were closing in I gotta get back on my feet again Just when things start going right I get messed up in a string of pearls Caught in the eyes of a beautiful girl It’s temptation on a twisted track Now I’m getting older and I’m losing steam The track is getting harder and harder to see Wheels are getting rusty, coming loose at the seams Engine is getting heavy, moving slower it seems. Just when things start going right I get messed up in a string of pearls Caught in the eyes of a beautiful girl Temptation on a twisted track Heading down a path unsure what it means Striving for a vision on imaginary wings Take a little success and a plate full of beans You have what you need to live a simple dream But just when things start going right Don’t get messed up in a string of pearls Caught in the eyes of a beautiful girl It’s temptation on a twisted track, Temptation on a twisted track It’s temptation on a twisted track

Bruce Mahin's songs are "orchestral" in their sonic depth drawing utilizing traditional acoustic as well as new electronic instruments, expanding the sonic footprint of alternative music with kaleidoscopic colors. Everybody's Talking Electricana gives traditional music a 'jolt' of electric energy. The lyrics speak with themes that resonate with today: social isolation, pervasive social media, freedom, and they touch our emotions with twists that make us think about these things differently.
